Gili T and Lombok

Technically we were leaving Bali, across Lombok Strait by fast boat trip to the Gili Trawangan and Lombok Island.

Leaving early morning we took a bus ride to Padang Bai, while waiting for the boat to arrive Joanne got chatting to a friendly guy called Scott. Scott was a Scotsman, who was carrying a New Zealand passport, he worked in Telfer Mine, Pilbara Western Australia and lived in Senggigi, Lombok. After hearing all about Scott’s amazing live as an international FIFO miner we took up his offer to come over to Lombok to meet his lovely wife Endang and their friends a few days later.

The fast boat arrived at the beach drop-off point on Gili T, after confirming my dives for the next few days with Manta Dive we then jumped aboard the local pony express taxi service to our FANTASTIC new accommodation.  If you have an aversion to Pink then this is probably not the place for you, otherwise I can not recommend this place more highly. The staff take the concept of hospitality to a new level, we were treated with such kindness and respect, also the place had a well maintained 35 metre lap pool.

Three days of great diving including the fastest moving drift dive I have ever done. Jo and I then caught a water taxi to Lombok, we had breakfast with Scott and Endang then we went on a great scooter ride along the Lombok west coast then up into the monkey forests.
